The former first round pick has managed to not do too badly during his starts this season. While he has had a couple of blow ups he has managed to do very well over the past month of starts. In his last 6 starts he has over a K an inning, with an ERA at 3.49 and a very low HR/9. He definitely has the strikeout potential and has deserved an ERA closer to 4 according to his indicators. Against the Padres he should give good Ks, decent ratios and a decent chance at the W.

Chacin has had a solid season for the Brewers, who have really needed him to due to a weak rotation. His Ks are slightly under one an inning, and his walks are slightly worse than league average. The 30 year old is getting a few more whiffs and less contact than he has in recent years, and has put up good numbers behind it. His ERA is, no doubt, due for some regression, but he still has a solid team behind him and that always presents a good chance for the W. He should also have a good shot at alright Ks and decent ratios.
