Starting Pitcher Streaming Options for Saturday (7/28/18)

Vince Velasquez – PHI – RHP (44%) @ CIN

Season Stats (19 GS) 6 W, 4.09 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 117 K/ 36 BB in 101 IP
Velasquez remains the best strikeout starters on the wire and one of the highest ceiling pitchers not owned in more than 50% of leagues. Velasquez went 7 scoreless innings and struck out 7 (albeit against the Padres) in his last game. His K rate is studly at nearly 28% on the year and although his ERA has come down, it’s still a touch above 4, but his ERA indicators say he deserves closer to a mid 3s ERA, which would no doubt raise his ownership up and over the 50% and into the 60% mark if it was the case. He’s definitely got a good chance at the W with great K potential and good ratios.

(The Reds rank 17th in the league with a .247 AVG and 13th in the league with a .735 OPS on the road this season. They also rank 5th in the league with a .255 AVG and 13th in the league with a .733 OPS vs RHP).

Jhoulys Chacin – MIL – RHP (41%) @ SF

Season Stats (22 GS) 9 W, 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 97 K/ 47 BB in 120 IP
Chacin has only allowed 1 earned run in each of his last two starts, and struck out 9 in his last outing, his high on the season (by 2 Ks). No only was the stat line impressive but he did it against the Nats, who are struggling, but still have a potent offense nonetheless. Chacin has been a decent streamer all season (as we’ve been saying) and benefits from a being on a great team that helps with stellar defense and excellent offensive production. His Ks have gone up this year and while his ERA is due to regress he’s still pitching very effectively for the time being. He has a good chance at the W with decent ratios and decent Ks.

(The Giants rank 6th in the league with a .262 AVG and 11th in the league with a .740 OPS at home this season. They also rank 7th in the league with a .254 AVG and 21st in the league with a .713 OPS vs RHP).
